Why Korean phone numbers need formatting
Korean phone numbers follow a specific structure that often confuses international visitors. Mobile numbers usually begin with 010, while Seoul landlines use the 02 area code and other regions use three-digit codes.
When you call from abroad or save a contact, you usually drop the leading zero and add Korea's country code, +82. This tool converts common Korean numbers between local format for use inside Korea and international format for saving in your phone or calling from overseas.
Quick phone number reference
A mobile number such as 010-1234-5678 becomes +82 10-1234-5678 in international format. A Seoul landline such as 02-123-4567 becomes +82 2-123-4567, while a regional landline such as 051-123-4567 becomes +82 51-123-4567.
Service numbers and short emergency numbers may not have a useful international copy format, so the page explains when an international button should not be shown.
Quick conversion examples
