Description
The museum named after Busan. The Busan Museum represents Busan and embodies the history of the Republic of Korea. Since its opening in November 1978, the Busan Museum has served not only as a place for Busan citizens to rest but also as a large-scale exhibition hall that covers the entire history of Busan from the Paleolithic Age to the modern times through the Goryeo Dynasty and the Joseon Dynasty. The permanent exhibition hall consists of Dongnae Exhibition Hall and Busan Exhibition Hall. Dongnae Exhibition Hall is designed to exhibit a wide range of relics found in Busan from the Paleolithic Age to the Goryeo Dynasty. It includes more than 5,000 pieces of unearthed cultural relics discovered through Gyeongsangnam-do, including relics related to Busan. With the relics, the valuable history of Busan, which has long been forgotten, unfolds in front of your eyes. Busan Exhibition Hall, connected to the Dongnae Exhibition Hall, consists of the Joseon Gallery, Modern Gallery, and Present History Gallery. Joseon Gallery clearly depicts the history of Busan, which became the center of Korean-Japanese relations since the opening of its port. It is interesting to see the digitally restored Painting of the Procession of the Joseon Tongsinsa (Diplomatic Mission) for the visitors to view. Modern Gallery allows you to meet the Korean independence activists of Busan. They dedicated their lives to Korean independence rather than grieving the loss of national sovereignty during the Japanese rule. Why not pay great respects to them? Present History Gallery shows the history of Busan, which overcame hardships and contributed to rebuilding the country after the Korean War following the liberation in 1945. Busan acted as a provisional capital during the evacuation period. Based on the labor of evacuees from different regions, Busan became an industry hub, revitalizing the Korean economy. This space reminds us of the teachings of a sage: “We must remember the painful history to move forward.” The Busan Museum goes through thousands of years. It will be a special space for children to learn history outside textbooks and for adults to experience the weight of time throughout the history of Busan.
