Description
In September, Busan becomes the center of the film industry as it holds the Busan International Film Festival. As Asia’s major international film festival, the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is held at the Busan Cinema Center of the Centum City and in the BIFF Square in Nampo-dong. The Busan Cinema Center, which is the Centum City’s main event hall, is the BIFF’s neat and splendid main cinema building that is accessible to the public. Moreover, the Community BIFF program is held by the citizens and people in the film industry at BIFF Square in Nampo-dong. This program was inspired by the early days of the BIFF when the public and people in film gathered in a friendly atmosphere over a drink after a film’s screening. The film festival’s flower, the red carpet event, is held at the Busan Cinema Center of the Centum City, where the public can see their beloved directors and actors during the beautiful autumn days. The opening ceremony of the festival is a fantastic spectacle with a giant outdoor screen, colorful lights, audience, and filmdom. Moreover, the programs consist of the open talk with moviemakers, their outdoor stage greetings, and other dynamic, interesting events that always attract a large number of people. True to its slogan, “Made by Audience,” BIFF features "Request Cinema," where viewers choose the movies they want to watch together. The festival will also host the world premiere of Project 30, an omnibus film by 30 alumni directors of the Korea National University of Arts, celebrating the school’s 30th anniversary with support from CJ ENM. Here, the audience doesn't just watch—they play a vital role in shaping the festival, turning BIFF Square into a vibrant playground for everyone. Every September, the Busan International Film Festival illuminates the city, showcasing films from around the world that are hard to find elsewhere, along with heartfelt stories straight from the filmmakers. It’s a place where the magic of cinema feels even closer. In addition, the BIFF offers various entertainment programs for the public. During the 10 days of the festival, visitors will fully experience Busan’s cinema world!
