Founded in 1956 by the Benedictine Sisters of the Missionary Order of Tutzing, the hospital aims to fulfill the Catholic Church's tradition of apostolic healing through Jesus Christ. Comprising 31 medical departments, the hospital opened an International Medical Center in 2010, offering international patients a one-stop service encompassing everything from appointment scheduling, registration, payment, interpretation, and insurance claims. Damyang Resort is a large resort complex comprised of a hotel, spa, arboretum, and event plaza. The spa is spread over a ground floor and basement floor, with both men's and women's pools, as well as many event pools and an open-air hot spring. Additional facilities include a jjimjilbang (Korean-style sauna), skincare center, and massage center. The hot springs use water with a mix of 20 minerals, including germanium, strontium, sulfuric ions, calcium, and lithium. The mineral mix helps soothe skin, relieve stress, and improve blood circulation to prevent many diseases and ailments.

Deokgu Hot Springs is recognized by the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs as “Gyeongsangbuk-do's No. 1 National Hot Spring" and is Korea's only hot spring with natural geyser. It is located in a 1.32ha-wide space in Deokgu, nestled in the beautiful scenery of Eungbongsan Mountain north of Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, east of Taebaeksan Mountain. The water here is lightly alkaline at a temperature of 42.4℃, one of the most well-regarded in Korea. It is especially effective for lifestyle diseases such as neuralgia, arthritis, muscle pain, skin disorders, and diabetes. Deokgu Hot Springs is also known for its beautiful view of the naturally flowing hot springs, unique rock formations, and crystal-clear waters from the valley.

Nearby to the Sinbulsan, Gajisan, and Ganwolsan Mountains of the Yeongnam mountain range, the complex is ideal for visitors seeking rest and relaxation after their hiking adventures. The water found in the area contains high concentrations of sodium bicarbonate (substance similar to baking soda), which is believed to be a remedy for dermatitis, indigestion, bronchitis, high blood pressure, and many other ailments. Nearby attractions include Amethyst Cavern Park, Dokkaebi Road, Jakcheonjeong, Ganwol Natural Recreation Forest, and Seongnamsa Temple.
