Hwaseong Boating Festival (화성 뱃놀이 축제)

Hwaseong Boating Festival is a maritime cultural festival held at Jeongok Port, the closest port to Seoul. Jeongok Port is just over a two-hour distance from Seoul by public transportation and is beloved by couples for its beautiful sunsets. The festival offers a full day of diverse sea-related experiences, including sailing yachts, powerboats, marine cable cars, sea fishing village experiences, and non-motorized watercraft activities. Hyo Culture Ppuri Festival (대전효문화뿌리축제)

Held at the nation’s only filial duty-themed park, the Ppuri Park, the Daejeon K-Hyo Festa is a traditional cultural event dedicated to finding the roots of the ancestry of unique family clans and learning traditional filial piety. The festival features various experiences related to surnames and filial duty, along with popular flea markets and food zones. In 2022, it received a Special Award at the Korea Festival Contents Awards.

Hyoseok Cultural Festival (평창효석문화제)

Korean novelist Lee Hyo-seok is from Pyeongchang, Gangwon State, and is known for his novels that combine stories with the beauty of nature. The Pyeongchang Hyoseok Cultural Festival, held every autumn in Bongpyeong, the setting of his famous work “When the Buckwheat Flowers Bloom,” celebrates his legacy and showcases the region’s beauty. The festival runs a variety of literary programs, such as an essay contest, a poetry event, and bookmaking. In the evening, there are small-scale literary and music performances to add to the romantic charm of the festivities. During the festival, the fields near the village are filled with white buckwheat flowers, creating a spectacular view as though they were waves of white snow rippling in the wind. A key highlight of the festival is capturing memorable photos against the backdrop of the buckwheat fields, which are the most cherished mementos of the event. ◎ The short novel “When the Buckwheat Flowers Bloom,” published in 1936, is a beloved work that captures themes of love and humor set against a buckwheat field. In September, Bongpyeong reaches the peak of its beauty with fields of white buckwheat flowers in full bloom.

Icheon Baeksa Sansuyu Flower Festival (이천백사 산수유꽃축제)

Icheon’s Baeksa Village is home to a number of sansuyu (cornus fruit) trees, which have been growing naturally in the area for over 100 years. In early spring, the trees change colors to a striking bright yellow, whilst in autumn the village is filled with the trees’ vivid red fruits. During the festival, visitors can participate in Korean traditional folk games and watch the Sansuyu flower parade. When sansuyu trees blossom, many professional photographers travel to Baeksa Village to take pictures of this beautiful sight.

Icheon Ceramics Festival (이천도자기축제)

The 40th Icheon Ceramic Festival is a celebration of ceramic culture held at Icheon Ceramics Village and throughout Sagimakgol Pottery Village in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do. Imsil N Cheese Festival (임실N치즈축제)

Imsil N Cheese Festival is held every fall in Imsil, the birthplace of cheese production in Korea, at Imsil Cheese Theme Park and Imsil Cheese Village, which are proud symbols of the region. Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival (인천펜타포트 락 페스티벌)

International Horticulture Goyang Korea, an international flower exhibition, is considered to be Korea’s representative international flower exhibition. The festival takes place at Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang with organizations, groups, and companies from all over the world showcasing flowers and various products made with flowers. Also, unique and rare plants exhibition, indoor garden decorated with flower art pieces, outdoor theme parks, making of flower plant experience, flower arrangement contests and other cultural events and performances are planned to add more joy to the flower festival.
