Hackberry Tree in Bukbu-ri (창원북부리팽나무)

Hackberry Tree in Bukbu-ri is the most famous “celebrity tree” in Changwon. It became famous after appearing in episodes 7 and 8 of the popular drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022).” The tree sits on a hilltop, allowing visitors to enjoy the cool breeze and the panoramic view of Changwon's old neighborhood. Bukbu-ri village entrance has signposts leading to the hackberry here and there with drawings of dolphins symbolizing the drama (the drama protagonist’s favorite animal), making it convenient for tourists to reach the tree. The hackberry tree is estimated to be over 500 years old, and its size and scale cannot be captured with a camera in one frame. It is a protected tree designated by the state, visitors are advised to refrain from touching or getting close to the tree.

Hado Beach (하도해변)

Located by the roadside of Hado-ri, known as the most beautiful coastal road in Jeju, Hado Beach is relatively quiet compared to other beaches in Jeju, featuring wide sandy beaches and clear, shallow waters. The gentle scenery unfolds with calm waves, making it suitable for marine leisure activities such as snorkeling and kayaking. Like Rain and Noh Hong-chul in "The Hungry and the Hairy," you can spread a simple table and chair and enjoy a cup of coffee quietly.

Hado Fishing Experience Village (하도어촌체험마을)
Haemajihaean-ro, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
Hado Fishing Experience Village is a relatively unknown destination on Jeju Island where visitors can experience the island’s unique maritime culture and coastal scenery. Among other things, it is home to the Haenyeo Museum, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives and traditions of Haenyeo (Jeju’s female divers); the Hado-ri Migratory Bird Habitat, where dozens of species of migratory birds, including rare species, gather; and Hado Beach, known for its clean blue waters and white sand.

Hadong Korea Zip-wire (하동 코리아 짚와이어)

It is a zip line that starts at the top of Geumosan Mountain at an altitude of 849 m, boasting the longest length in Asia. The cast from “House on Wheels” and “I Live Alone” were in awe of the scenery of the tea fields with the Korean archipelago in the background, drawing attention from viewers. When seen in person, the view is much more beautiful than anything the screen could display, not to mention the fast speed of the zip-wire is way more thrilling than what you could imagine; flying towards the blue southern sea at a speed of up to 120 km per hour, you’ll feel as if you left your heart behind you on the platform.

Hadong Pine Forest (하동송림)
2107-8, Seomjingang-daero, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do
Hadong Pine Forest grows along the Seomjingang River near Seomjingang Iron Bridge. It was planted in 1745, during the 21st year of Joseon King Yeongjo’s reign, to block wind and sand. Now, it is one of the best pine groves in Korea. In a total area of 26,000 ㎡ are approximately 750 old-growth pine trees. Along with the white sand on the riverside, the forest provides picturesque scenery when seen from Hasangjeong Pavilion within the forest. The forest park is used as a venue for folk games and major events hosted by the local government. There are sports facilities and recreational facilities teenagers, children, and families can enjoy, attracting many locals and tourists.

Hadong Ssanggyesa Temple (쌍계사(하동))
59 Ssanggyesa-gil, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do
Ssanggyesa Temple was founded on the southern foothills of Jirisan Mountain in 722 during the reign of Silla King Seongdeok. The temple is famous for the 6-kilometer stretch of cherry blossom trees that bloom each spring. The temple was originally called Okcheonsa Temple, but was changed to the current Ssanggyesa Temple in 887. The current temple buildings were all built in 1632, after having been burned down during the Imjin War (1592-1598). The temple grounds and nearby area feature many historic and beautiful attractions, including Burilpokpo Falls and a large tea plantation.

Hadong Tea Museum (하동야생차박물관)

The Hadong Tea Museum is located at the foot of Jirisan Mountain in Hadong, Gyeongsangnam-do. It aims to promote the tea culture of the area, the first tea producer in the nation, while advertising the quality and superiority of Hadong green tea. The center is located adjacent to the tea farming area and Ssanggyesa Temple, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Korea. The museum features an exhibition hall explaining the history and culture associated with Korean tea, and an experience hall where visitors can enjoy hands-on programs like making tea and learning traditional tea etiquette, as well as a shop selling high-quality tea produced in the region. Every year, the museum also hosts the Hadong Wild Tea & Culture Festival every year.

Hadong Wild Tea Cultural Festival (하동 야생차문화축제)

The Hadong Wild Tea Cultural Festival is a fragrant celebration in Hadong, a region renowned for its green tea, historically known as the “king’s tea” due to its royal offerings. The Hadong 1000-Year Dahyang Trail is perfect for leisurely walks, connecting hills and tea fields with decked paths and narrow village roads. Following the successful “World Tea Expo 2023 Hadong, Korea,” the festival solidified Hadong’s reputation as a “tea-refreshing cultural city.” The diverse program includes tea cup busking, moving art galleries, music and art spaces, tea classes, book discussions, meditation and refreshing programs, and trekking on the 1000-Year Dahyang Trail, providing ample opportunity to fully experience Hadong and its tea culture. ◎ 1000-Year Dahyang TrailHadong’s proximity to the Seomjingang River results in frequent fog and high humidity, coupled with significant temperature variations, creating an ideal environment for tea cultivation. Historical records indicate that tea has been grown here for a thousand years, marking Hadong as the birthplace of Korean tea cultivation.

Hadongdaek House (하동댁)

Gaesil Village in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is the hometown of descendants of Joseon politician Kim Jongjik, and offers visitors old-time village experiences such as hanok stay, farming, and traditional etiquette and games - all overseen by the Gaesil Village Farming Association. Hadong House is a cozy hanok guesthouse with a well-maintained garden, offering two rooms: Maeshil (‘Plum’) has its own inside kitchen and toilet, while Jukshil (‘Bamboo’) has an outside kitchen and shared toilet.
