Mokhyangjae in Sejong City, Chungcheongnam-do, is a hanok pension built in the style of a palace with beams and pillars of thick red pine. The exposed beam ceilings and hanji-covered sliding doors add to the feel of a grand old house. There’s a choice of rooms: Korean style ondol room (either 1-2 person or family-sized); a standard room with a bed and an attic; or deluxe room with a living room and an attic. The attic, equipped with comics and picture books, is a favorite space for children. There’s also a traditional tea house.

Mok In Museum Mok Seok Won relocated in 2019 from Insa-dong to Buam-dong. Six exhibition halls offer visitors a look at wooden figures from around the world. Mokin refers to traditional wooden sculptures carved in shapes of human figures or various animals. The museum holds around 12,000 wooden folk sculptures including those used to decorate funeral carriages and temples mostly from the Joseon dynasty up to modern times. The museum also has an outdoor exhibition hall that harmonizes the sculptures with nature.

Mok-A Museum was established by Park Chan-su, who is an Intangible Cultural Heritage practitioner, with the purpose of handing down traditional Buddhist art and traditional woodcraft techniques. The four-story museum contains an outdoor sculpture park. The exhibition displays that remain include Buddhist statues, paintings, and sculptures, as well as the works of director Park Chan-su, including many Buddhist woodcrafts. The outdoor sculpture park displays Buddhist statues such as Mireuksamjondaebul, Birojanabul, Baeuigwaneum, and a three-story pagoda.

Mokdong Stadium was opened in 1989 with a stadium, a baseball field and an indoor ice rink and added footsal field in 2008 to improve Korea’s sports culture. The soccer field was used as the home field for K-league teams in the past. The ice rink hosts hockey matches and figure skating competitions as well as ice ballet performances. Other facilities include a main square, an indoor shooting range and a gym for residents to enjoy.

Mokimdang is a private hanok stay located in the historic village of Mundeok-myeon in Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do. It was introduced in EBS Culture Program <Architecture Exploration, House>. The accomodation consists of three rooms - ondol room, bedroom, and kitchen, plus two bathroom/toilets - and of course a yard. Guests need to bring their own toiletries, and can bring their dogs with them - though there&rsquo;s an extra charge for this. English language local information is available. The beautiful Sonngwangsa and its hermitage Bulil-am are nearby, as is the Daewonsa Tibet Museum.

Mokpo Gatbawi Rock (목포 갓바위)

Located on the coast of Yonghae-dong in Mokpo, Gatbawi is a natural sandstone and tafoni formation near the mouth of the Yeongsangang River, where freshwater runs into the sea. Gatbawi is named after its shape, which is said to look like two men wearing traditional Korean hats called &ldquo;gat&rdquo; (&ldquo;bawi&rdquo; meaning &ldquo;rock&rdquo;). The rock is actually made of two individual formations: one measuring 8 meters tall and one 6 meters tall. Valued not only for its aesthetics, Gatbawi Rock is of high geological value as a &ldquo;natural sculpture&rdquo; that was formed as a result of years of weathering. The rock formation was officially recognized as a Natural Monument on April 27, 2009.

The Retro Cafe, an event hall, serves as a modern cultural experience space, equipped with a modern music cafe and a modern costume experience area. A media facade expressing Mokpo's modern cultural heritage is displayed along the exhibition hall walls. On the second floor, the exhibition highlights popular songs connected to Mokpo and introduces the city’s representative singer. Mokpo Marine Cable Car departs from the North Port Terminal, ascends to the summit of Yudalsan Mountain where it rotates 90 degrees, then traverses over Mokpo and the Dadohae Sea to reach Gohado Island. Covering a distance of 3.23 kilometers with peak elevation at 155 meters, the round trip takes approximately 40 minutes.
