Typhoon Observatory (태풍전망대)

Typhoon Observatory was built on December 3, 1991 by Invincible Typhoon Korean Army. The observatory is situated on Suribong Peak, the highest point of Bikkisan Mountain. It is located 65 kilometers and 140 kilometers from Seoul and Pyeongyang respectively. It is famous in that the location is the closest to the Military Demarcation Line, being only 800 meters and 1,600 meters away from the MDL and North Korean checkpoint respectively. The observatory houses a Christian church, Catholic church, statue of the Virgin Mary, Buddhist sanctum, belfry and other facilities where soldiers are able to participate in religious ceremonies. Also, Manghyangbi Monument for displaced person, Monument for Korean War, and Boy’s Tank Corps Memorial can be seen in the area. The Exhibition Hall presents daily necessities collected from Pilseunggyo Bridge of Imjingang in North Korea and some detection equipment that armed espionage agents used when they did infiltration after the ceasefire.

Uam Historical Park (우암사적공원)

Uam Historical Park, situated in the eastern part of Daejeon, is both a cultural heritage site and a park. It was once the place where Uam Song Siyeol (1607-1689), a scholar and government official during the Joseon dynasty, conducted his research and educational activities. The traditional houses established during his time and the relics left by Song Siyeol are still preserved, and visitors can view these artifacts at the historic museum. The park also features a pond within its premises.

Udusan Suspension Bridge (우두산 출렁다리 (거창 Y자형 출렁다리))

Udusan Suspension Bridge, situated on Udusan Mountain, named for its resemblance to a cow's head, is positioned halfway up the mountain. The bridge stands 60 meters above ground and spans a total length of 109 meters. Comprising three segments of 45 meters, 24 meters, and 40 meters, it is arranged in a Y-shape and is the only mountain pedestrian bridge in the country that connects three directions across a steep gorge. Crossing the bridge offers scenic views of rocks, waterfalls, and forests.

Uhwajeong Pavilion (우화정(내장산))

Uhwajeong Pavilion takes its name from the legend that the pavilion once grew wings and ascended into the heavens. The pavilion is located in the middle of a lake on the way to Naejangsan Visitor Information Center. The scenery of the pavilion and foliage reflecting on the lake is like a painting. Various flowers, trees, reeds, and foliage surrounding the pavilion create a more beautiful view.

Uiamho Lake Skywalk (의암호스카이워크)

Uihang Beach, situated in Taean, gets its name from "Uihang," meaning the neck of an ant, alluding to the area's narrow and elongated terrain. The beach features a gentle slope with both sands and pebbles. Fishing is available on the breakwater, and the vicinity offers various accommodations, including a campground, pensions, lodgings, and a hanok resort.

Uijae Museum of Korean Art (광주 의재미술관)

The Uijae Museum of Korean Art was established in memory of the famous Korean artist Heo Baekryeon. Construction of the museum ended in December, 1999, but the museum wasn’t officially opened until November 17, 2001. Built to mimic the curve of a gently sloping road, the museum’s unique design earned architect Jo Seongryong the 10th Korean Architecture Award the same year as the museum’s opening. Measuring 6,000㎡ (B1-2F) in size, the museum is comprised of two exhibition rooms, a storage facility, a seminar room, and a tea ceremony room for visitors. Since its opening, the Uijae Museum of Korean Art has hosted notable exhibitions and seminars such as the 2002 Biennale Project 2 International Symposium.
