Donghae Nongoldam-gil Street (Deungdae Damhwa Village) (동해 논골담길 (등대 담화마을))

Nongoldam-gil Street, formed in 1941, was transformed in 2010 with the "Nongoldam-gil Street" project by the Donghae Culture Center. With the help from the village seniors and local artists, the street became a canvas storytelling the history of Mukhohang Port and the lives of the villagers. There are also many cafes located along the street, perfect for taking a break to enjoy the view.

Donghae Station Railroad Experience Center (동해역 (철도체험학습장)

Donghak Peasants Revolution Memorial Hall (동학농민혁명기념관)

The Donghak Peasants Revolution Memorial Hall was founded to commemorate the peasants who rose up against corrupt public officials in 1894. The hall presents various educational programs and events. The hall is divided into an exhibition hall and an educaitonal hall.

Donghaksagyegok Valley (동학사계곡)

Donghaksagyegok Valley is a 3.5-kilometer-long valley located near Donghaksa Temple within Gyeryongsan National Park in Gongju. It is surrounded by lush green forests where wildflowers bloom, and the sound of clear water and birds can always be heard. The valley features attractions such as Donghaksa Temple, Eunseonpokpo Falls, and wild birds. While beautiful in all seasons, it is most stunning during spring when everything is in vibrant green.

Dongho Beach (동호해수욕장)
Dongho-ri, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk-do
Dongho Beach is located south of Gomsoman Bay, between the Byeonsan Peninsula of Buan and Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do. Skirting the 1-kilometer-long white sandy beach lies a green forest with pine trees hundreds of years old. The sunset viewed from the forest is particularly eye-catching as the soft pink from the falling sun covers the sky. The water just offshore is relatively shallow, varying in depth between 0.5 and 1.5 meters. The high salt content in the seawater makes it an ideal place for sea and sand bathing. On the hill above the forest is Suseongdang, a shrine honoring the god of the seas, where the local fishermen gather each year to pray for big catches.

Dongmun Traditional Market (동문재래시장)

Dongmun Traditional Market, steeped in history, stands a quintessential market of Jeju Island. Together with the adjacent Dongmun Traditional Fish Market, it forms the core of Jeju’s most significant and expansive permanent market, established right after Korea’s liberation in August 1945. Originally the island’s only permanent marketplace and a hub for its commercial activities, the market was relocated to its present site after a devastating fire in March 1954. It offers an array of goods such as vegetables, fruits, seafood, medicinal herbs, grains, and clothing. Known for its fresh catch, the market is a go-to place for seafood lovers, offering delicacies like sliced raw cutlassfish at reasonable prices. It’s also gaining popularity for its innovative dishes, including samhap (skate, pork, and kimchi combo) served with rice and abalone intestines, as well as tteokgalbi (grilled galbi patties) accompanied by whole abalone.

Dongmyeong Live Fish Center (동명활어센터)

Dongmyeong Live Fish Center, operated by the Sokcho Fisheries Cooperative, is located at Dongmyeong Port in Sokcho. The first floor is lined with hoe (sliced raw fish) shops, where freshly caught fish swim in clear tanks and are prepared on the spot, making the slicing process part of the experience. After selecting your hoe, you can enjoy your meal in the spacious second-floor restaurant. Known for its freshness and reliability, the center is especially popular during the summer season. Conveniently located next to the Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal, it also offers views of the open East Sea and easy access to nearby attractions such as Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion, Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory, and Deungdae Beach.

Dongmyeong Port Pojangmacha Alley (동명항 포장마차 거리)

Dongmyeong Port, one of Sokcho’s major attractions, is lined with seaside pojangmacha (street food stalls) where visitors can enjoy fresh sliced raw fish and a variety of seafood while taking in ocean views. Located about a 10-minute walk from the Dongmyeong Port Hoe Center, the stalls offer seasonal menus that may include assorted seafood, snow crab, grilled ribs, grilled mackerel stew, shellfish, and crustaceans. With its relaxed atmosphere and beachside setting, it is a popular spot for drinks and evening strolls, especially among travelers seeking a romantic seaside experience.
