Gimje Seongmoam Hermitage (성모암(김제))

Seongmoam Hermitage, a temple of the Jogye Order, is located on Yuangsan Mountain in Mangyeong-myeon, Gimje-si. The temple is the final resting place of the mother of Jinmuk Daesa, a great Buddhist monk from the Jeonbuk region. Jinmuk believed that a person’s love and respect for Buddha is not that much different from the love and respect one has for his or her parents. As an expression of this philosophy, Jinmuk had his mother’s remains enshrined at the temple after she died at Mujasoncheonnyeonhyanghwajiji. A neat little line of stone lamps leads visitors up from the parking lot to the temple grounds, revealing the well-attended grave of Jinmuk Daesa’s mother to the left. The temple is very unique in that it is the only one to house a caretaker’s office (Gosiraejoen Hall) that is responsible for maintaining the grave site. It is said that prayers made to Seongmo (the holy mother) while visiting the temple will come true. Throughout the year, throngs of people journey to the temple to pay their respects and earnestly ask the holy mother to grant them their deepest desires.
Gimnyeong Maze Park (김녕미로공원)

Gimnyeong Maze Park is intricately designed with towering evergreen trees, each reaching up to three meters in x_height, creating an natural labyrinth. The pathways are paved with scoria, a natural volcanic rock characteristic of Jeju, enhancing the authentic island feel. As visitors navigate the maze, the refreshing scent of evergreen trees fills the air, providing a sense of clarity and rejuvenation. Along the route, visitors can encounter unique dolmens and their feline residents. The park also features an observatory and a suspension bridge, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Gimnyeong Maze Park is a favorite destination for families, children and couples alike, providing a memorable experience for all.
Gimnyeong Seongsegihaebyeon Beach (김녕성세기해변 (김녕해수욕장))

The clear waters that are highlighted with cobalt-blue and the clean white sand of Gimnyeong Seongsegihaebyeon Beach steal the hearts of visitors every year. The beach is also popular with fishermen, who enjoy rope fishing from the rocks. This area is known to be good for catching striped beakfish and spotty belly greenlings. Not far from the beach is Manjanggul Cave, which offers a welcome escape from the daytime heat.

Gimnyeongsagul Cave is located close to Manjanggul Cave in the northeastern part of Jeju Island. The name of the cave, "Sagul," comes from the snake-like formation of the cave ("sa" meaning serpent). The entrance of the cave is wide like a serpent holding its mouth wide open, but once inside, the tunnel narrows resembling the body of a snake. Gimnyeongsagul Cave is a highly protected area and has been designated as Natural Monument along with Manjanggul Cave.
Gimpo Art Village (김포 아트빌리지)

Gimpo Art Village features various culture and arts experience sites, an art center exhibition hall where high-quality exhibits can be enjoyed, an outdoor performing stage that can accommodate up to 1,000 people at once, and a traditional play experience ground. The Village also has a traditional hanok stay experience hall, multipurpose hall and practice rooms where art clubs and organizations can engage in creative activities to their heart's content, a VR (virtual reality) experience hall for people of all ages and genders, and many other spaces for culture and arts for citizens to enjoy in the midst of their lives. Historical background: The Unyang-dong part of Modamsan Mountain where Gimpo Art Village is located is speculated to be the origin of the ancient country of Baekje. Seated before broad plains and Najincheon Stream, the art village also sits in front of Modamsan, the home of numerous Mahan tombs from which a 120-centimeter-long steel sword, crystal jade, and golden earrings, the oldest of its kind unearthed thus far, were once discovered. There have also been many discoveries of settlements from the New Stone Age and Bronze Age as well as dolmens from the Bronze Age so it is believed that a group with a powerful authority had been living in the Modamsan area since ancient times. In the Joseon period, the area became a part of Cheonhyeon-ri and Cheongsudong-ri, Seokhan-myeon. Modamsan is the home of the shrine and grave of Sim Ong, a military vassal from the early Joseon Dynasty who was a second-level meritorious vassal and had the positions of General Jeolchung and later Yeonguijeong, which was given after his death. Also located on the northern riverside of Hangang is Gambawi Rock where Jungbong Jo Heon, a civil vassal from the mid-Joseon period and leader of a righteous army, used to fish to soothe his patriotic sentiments.
Gimpo Daemyeong Port (김포 대명항)

The piercing smell of salt, the energy of freshly caught fish, fishing boats returning from far out at sea, and people walking in and out of the fish market and raw fish restaurants - these are the scenes of Daemyeong Port in Daegot-myeon, Gimpo where the fresh vigor of life is vividly alive. It is located just 30 minutes from Gimpo Airport by car so it is close to Seoul. Fishermen and owners of fishing boats personally run raw fish restaurants so the prices of raw fish are about 20% cheaper here than at other ports, according to the people of Daemyeong Port. Raw fish restaurants that you first encounter at the entrance of the port have tanks filled with freshly caught fish, and fishing nets spread out here and there vividly show the unique characteristics of a port. As it is the only port on the coast of Ganghwado Island, you are able to fully enjoy the beautiful seascape. The port is also receiving a great deal of attention both locally and nationwide thanks to the Daemyeong Type 2 Fishery Harbor project and the Pungeoje Festival. In 2001, Daemyeong Port was selected as one of the "7 Winter Seas recommended by the Korea Tourism Organization" for its beautiful seascape and flavors of a traditional port. Facing Ganghwado across Ganghwa Strait, Daemyeong Port is not as busy with tourists as Sorae Port or Yeonan Pier and boasts quiet and affectionate scenes of a fishing village. Nearby lies Deokpojin Fort, which is a historical site where our ancestors in the late Joseon Dynasty fought against foreign forces.
Gimpo Hamsang Park (김포함상공원)

Gimpo Hamsang Park is the first battleship themed park in the Seoul metropolitan area. With LST battleship on display, there are many things to see and experience at the park. Visitors can learn various information about the lives and duties of naval officers as well as enjoy a panoramic view of the West Sea.
Gimpo International Sculpture Park (김포국제조각공원)

Gimpo Sculpture Park is situated in a large forest and is decorated with 30 sculptures: 14 by international artists and 16 by Korean artists. Since the site is located near the DMZ, the only divided country in the world, each sculpture expresses the overarching theme of unification. A favorite spot for weekend picnicking families and couples on dates, the park is expected to be included in a large tourist complex in the near future along with nearby Reports Park and the youth training center.
Gimpo Jangneung Royal Tomb [UNESCO World Heritage] (김포 장릉(인헌왕후) [유네스코 세계문화유산])

Jangneung Royal Tomb is located in Gimpo, Gyeonggi-do. This is the tomb for the parents of King Injo, the posthumously designated King Wonjong (1580-1619) and of his wife Queen Inheon (1578-1626). The tombs are small but well maintained.
Gimpo Munsusanseong Fortress (김포 문수산성)
Ponae-ri, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do
Munsusanseong Fortress was built on Munsusan Mountain in 1694, during the 20th year of the reign of King Sukjong, the 19th king of the Joseon dynasty. The fortress as designed to defend Gwanghwado Island from marine invasion. At the time, the fortress had north, west, and south gates, but they were destroyed in a fire during the Byeong-in Yangyo (1866). The north gate was restoryed in 1995 and the south gate in 2002. The fortress walls span 6 kilometers in length, 4 kilometers of which remain unrestored. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, the top of the fortress commands a spectacular view spanning from North Korea to the Hangang River inlet, and from Samgaksan Mountain to the sea off Incheon in the distance. It is often referred to as the Geumgangsan Mountain of Gimpo as it boasts superb scenery throughout all four seasons. The mountain is home to Munsusa Temple, established during the reign of Silla King Jinseong.
Ginkgo Tree at the Fortress Well Site (성주우물터 은행나무)

Ginkgo Tree at the Fortress Well Site refers to the old ginkgo tree, which have been designated as a protected tree in 1988, located in Gayang-dong, Gangseo-gu in Seoul. Until the Gayang apartment complex was built, the area where the ginkgo tree is located was a historic place with a beautiful landscape and many anecdotes and legends. Before the Goryeo dynasty, its location served as an important strategic point along the lower part of the Hangang River, where it had a ferry dock with boats that bypassed Haengju and Paju as a shortcut for commuting between Kaeseong and Pyongyang, and is associated with many legends of historical figures who had used the dock. The ginkgo tree also appears in a painting drawn by Gyeomjae Jeongseon, a historic painter of the Joseon dynasty.
