Goyang Heungguksa Temple (흥국사(고양))

Heungguksa Temple was founded in AD 661 by the renowned monk Wonhyo. While practicing on nearby Bukhansan Mountain, Wonhyo followed an auspicious light to this site, where he discovered a stone statue of the Bhaisajyaguru Buddha. Believing the location was destined for greatness, he built a temple here and named it Heungseongam, predicting that many saints would emerge from its grounds. Though much of its early history is unrecorded, the temple saw significant development during the 17th and 18th centuries. Throughout the late 19th century, dedicated monks continued to rebuild and expand the grounds, adding several key halls and sacred art that remain part of the temple’s enduring legacy.

Goyang Restore Coffee (리스토어커피)

This is a cafe where coffee made by roasting coffee beans and desserts such as Croiffles are delicious. High ceilings, natural wooden furniture, and tiled counters create a sophisticated atmosphere. The zone brings together key attractions such as KINTEX, a major venue for the MICE industry, along with Ilsan Lake Park, La Festa, Western Dome, One Mount, and Aqua Planet Ilsan. The area hosts a variety of cultural programming, including live performances, music contests, and seasonal festivals, reflecting its ongoing role as a hub for entertainment and tourism.

Goyang Tourist Information Center in Gyeonggi-do (고양관광정보센터)

He also mentioned Ilsan in his childhood when he gave a speech at the United Nations in 2018 under the theme of 'Speak Yourself'. He attended Baekseok Elementary School and Shinil Middle School, and dreamed of becoming a 'rapper' since middle school. At the Goyang Tourist Information Center, there is a RM mural measuring 18m in x_width and 12m in x_height. In ‘Ma City’, there are lyrics such as “Lake Park is better than the Hangang River,” “La Festa and Western Dome that felt like home,” and “The Hugok Academy Village that raised me as a child” so it’s good to visit these places together.

Goyang West Five Royal Tombs is an important historical site comprising a cluster of five royal tombs from the Joseon dynasty, located in the western region. This significant group include the tombs of Crown Prince Uigyeong (1438-1457), the eldest son of King Sejo, at Gyeongneung; King Yejong at Changneung; Crown Prince Sunhui at Sunchangwon; Queen Ingyeong at Ingneung; King Sukjong at Myeongneung; and Queen Jeongseong at Hongneung. Touring these sites typically takes about an hour. Additionally, there's a walking trail behind Ingneung, allowing visitors to enjoy the surrounding forest in spring and summer, as well as the vibrant maple trees in autumn.

Goyang West Three Royal Tombs is a significant historical site comprising three major royal burial grounds in the western area. Huireung Royal Tomb is dedicated to Queen Janggyeong (1491-1515), the consort of King Jungjong during the Joseon dynasty. Hyoreung Royal Tomb is the resting place of King Injong (1515-1545) and his queen, Inseong. Yereung Royal Tomb holds the remains of King Cheoljong (1831-1864) and his queen, Cheorin. This area is home to numerous tombs and relics belonging to various members of the Joseon royal family.
