Goraebul Beach (고래불해수욕장)

Goryeo-dong Historic Site (고려동유적지)

Goryeo-dong Historic Site was founded by Yi O, a scholar of Goryeo who had unwavering loyalty to the Goryeo dynasty even after it fell. The village naturally formed by his descendants. Yi O built a stone fence around the area and called it Goryeo-donghak, meaning the home of Goryeo refugees. Yi never did serve the new government and asked his sons to also never serve the new kingdom or to move his body after he died. For over 600 years, 19 generations of Yi O have remained here, honoring his memory.

Goryeong Daegaya Festival (고령대가야축제)

The Goryeong Daegaya Festival is the Goryeong's flagship festival and a long-standing celebration where visitors can explore and experience the unique history and culture of Daegaya. In 2025, Goryeong was officially designated as the ancient capital of Daegaya, further enhancing the significance of its rich historical and cultural heritage. In addition, the discovery of pottery bearing the inscription “Great King” at the moat of the Daegaya Palace Site provided important evidence that Daegaya was a powerful ancient kingdom. Together with the inscription of the Jisandong Ancient Tombs on the UNESCO World Heritage List, these developments underscore the importance of preserving and promoting Daegaya’s history and culture for future generations. Under the theme “Daegaya Begins Again: RE-BORN,” the 2026 Goryeong Daegaya Festival seeks to foster pride in Goryeong’s status as the ancient capital of Daegaya while continuing to grow as a leading festival celebrating history and cultural heritage.

Goryeong Janggi-ri Rock Art (고령 장기리 암각화)

Yangjeondong Rock Art (discovered in 1971) is a rock painting 3 meters high and 5.5 meters wide that vividly depicts the life and religion of the Prehistoric Age. Rock art from the time period was created on rocks or other planes considered to be sacred and usually carried a message of fertility. The artwork of Yangjeondong shows layered circles (symbolizing the sun and the moon), crosses (depicting the “life zone” of the tribe), and 17 masks. The artwork is considered to have been used for ceremonial purposes or farming events.

Gosam Reservoir (고삼저수지)

Gosam Reservoir is a vast reservoir that was completed in 1963 to supply water to nearby areas. The reservoir is abundant in aquatic plants, providing a good habitat for fish. The dreamy scenery in foggy dawn is like a painting. For this reason, it is a famous filming location frequented by photographers. Visitors can enjoy a walk along the path around while listening to early birds chirp in the background. It is known as a popular spot for auto-camping. The reservoir has three small islands known as Baseok Island, Palja Island, and Donggeurak Island. The lake is so large that it may feel like an ocean surrounded by land. The lake's circumference is 14 kilometers, and it takes 25 minutes by car to encircle the whole lake. The lakeside is also a cherry blossom driving course in spring. In addition to being a popular free campsite, the reservoir is also famous for its fabulous sunset and sunrise views.

Gosan Changpo Village (창포마을)

Since there is a colony of irises (Changpo), it is a quiet rural village that produces traditional handmade products using irises. Various experiences such as making natural shampoo and soap are available. It is essential to take a picture in a pose like a pictorial at the rustic concrete bridge where the BTS members sat, and the old shop Yongam Sanghoe where you can feel the years.

Gosan Mountain (고산)
Sanggeum-ri, Daesan-myeon, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk-do
Gosan Mountain is a beautiful mountain that rises sharply from the plains, offering stunning views from its summit at an elevation of 572 meters. The mountain delights hikers with lush pine forests and interesting rock formations. Gosan Mountain is also known for its numerous dolmens, dating back to prehistoric times, and the Gosansanseong Fortress, built during the Later Three Kingdoms period, providing plenty of attractions for visitors.
Gosan Recreational Forest (고산자연휴양림)

Located in Osan-ri, Gosan Recreational Forest is a popular family destination throughout all four seasons. Full of thick groves of larch trees, Korean white pines, rigida pines, and plenty of broad-leaved trees, the forest and its streams offer a cool and refreshing retreat. In spring, the forest is beautiful with wildflowers, azaleas and wild cherry blossom trees. In summer, families flock to the streams shaded by the thick forest canopy. As summer turns into fall, the whole area transforms into a rainbow of bright yellow, red, and orange. With the coming of winter, the snow covers the trees and blankets the ground, turning the forest in a winter dreamland.

Gosanjeong Pavilion (고산정)
177-42 Gasong-gil, Dosan-myeon, Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
Gosanjeong Pavilion was built by Geum Nan-su in 1564 as a place for study. The pavilion is located below the Gasonghyeop escarpment, one of the eight scenic sites of Andong, along the Nakdonggang River. Views from the pavilion include Woebyeongsan and Naebyeongsan Mountains and a lush pine forest.
